The R.C. Bush Pilots was started in the fall of 1981 solely for the purpose of those who enjoy the recreation sport of radio control (RC) models. The club called several sites home until finally settling into its current location about 12 years ago. The field was at one time located on another hill atop the Dyer landfill, farther north from the one we know fly from. The current site is named in recognition of a former president, Phil Wherry, now deceased. The R.C. Bush pilots has grown consistently over the years, with membership currently a little over 100, it is one of the largest clubs in Florida. With land as scarce as it is in our area, we are careful to maintain a healthy relationship with our land lease partner, Palm Beach County.
